Jacksonville Responds to Dwelling Fire in Harford County

June 17th, 2009

Just after midnight, Harford County 911 received a call reporting a dwelling fire in the 2500 block of Crestview Drive in Fallston. Initial reports from the caller indicated a basement fire with heavy smoke in the residence. The caller also stated that he was still trying to get his family members out of the dwelling. Harford County Fire Dispatch upgraded the assignment to a Fire/Rescue Box. Jacksonville’s Engine 473 joined other units Fallston, Bel Air, Jarrettsville, and Kingsville. Minutes after dispatch, Engine 1311 arrived and reported smoke showing from a 1 1/2 story wood frame dwelling. After a brief investigation, crews determined that there was fire showing from the basement window and all residents were out of the structure. The crew from Engine 1311 advanced a hoseline through the front door and proceeded to the basement to knock the fire. As additional units arrived, crews from Bel Air, Jarrettsville, and Jacksonville stretched back-up hoselines, performed ventilation, and checked for fire extension. The fire was contained within 20 minutes by the crews initially dispatched.
