Jacksonville’s Engine Responds to Junkyard Fire (Fire Box 45-15)

March 15th, 2009

At approximately 1345 hours, Northern Baltimore County units were alerted to a reported building fire at Browns Junkyard on Old York Road in Maryland Line’s first-due area. Jacksonville's E473 responded on the first alarm assignment. Harford County Chief 10 was the first to arrive reporting a 50 ft x 100 ft building fully involved and requested a second alarm. Upon arrival, E473’s crew was directed to extend a protection line to the rear of the structure, where the bulk of the fire was. At this point, due to the extent of the fire spread and significant hazards present, exterior-only firefighting was ordered. Crews from Baltimore, Harford, and York Counties operated on the scene until the evening.
