Engine 471 Assists Units with Chimney Fire (Fire Box 38-7)
March 21st, 2008
At approximately 1900 hours on Friday, Long Green and Jacksonville Volunteers were dispatched for a report of an unknown type of fire on Dulaney Valley Road. Engine 382 responded and arrived in the 12900 block minutes later to find smoke showing from a house. After a brief investigation, it was determined that there was a working chimney fire. Engine 471 assisted crews with laddering the roof and using ‘chimney bombs’ to extinguish the fire in the chimney. Crews worked on the inside of the house to remove fire wood and ash from the wood stove and wood furnace. Units operated on location for approximately one hour.
