Units Respond to Accident with Entrapment (Rescue Box 47-9)

November 6th, 2006

At 1500 hours on Monday, units from 47 and surrounding companies were alerted for a motor vehicle accident with people trapped. While units were still enroute, a Harford County Fire Chief advised that he was on the scene and reported one patient trapped. Jacksonville's Engine 473 and IV 475 arrived within minutes arrived to find a two-vehicle MVC with two patients, one of them trapped. Crews on scene requested a Maryland State Police Helicopter for the patient still trapped in her SUV. A second medic unit was also requested for the patient in the other vehicle. Crews worked for about 30 minutes freeing the patient from her SUV. She was then taken to the trauma center by medevac. IV 475 transported the second patient to another trauma center.
