Jacksonville Responds to Working Building Fire in Pikesville (Fire Box 2-11)

November 4th, 2006

Shortly after 0200 hours on Saturday, fire stations on the west side of the county were called to the Port City Press on Greenwood Road in Pikesville for a reported tractor trailer on fire. Engine 2 arrived minutes after dispatch and reported a tractor trailer against a wall of the building was fully involved. Command was established and a working fire assignment was requested, bringing Jacksonville’s Air Unit 478 after there was no response from the first-due air unit. Firefighters had to use saws and other cutting tools to open the trailer in order to access the fire. There was minor extension into the building. Units remained on the scene for some time working to extinguish the fire, remove smoke from the building, and perform salvage and overhaul operations in the structure.

Jacksonville Units: AU478

Other Units: E2, E321, E18, E19, E311, TOW323, T18, SQ322, BC22, M2, T13, E14
