Seven of Jacksonville's firefighters had the opportunity to join others from Hereford and Jarrettsville at a house burning on Sunday. After assessing the cost of a demolition, the homeowners of a house off of Jarrettsville Pike donated the house for the fire department to use for training. Approximately 30 participants divided into crews and practiced various evolutions from approximately 7am until lunchtime. A large pond on the property was used as a water source. It was a good experience for all of those involved, both new and experienced. After all crews had practiced extinguishing various fires throughout the house, the fire was allowed to consume the entire dwelling. The members from Jacksonville would also like to especially thank the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company for providing breakfast in the early morning and a delicious lunch at the end of the day.
