JVFC Hosts 'North County Safety Day'

July 29th, 2006

The Jacksonville Volunteers teamed up with a number of organizations on Saturday for the "North County Safety Day." Agencies present included the Baltimore County Office of Emergency Preparedness, Baltimore County Police, Maryland State Police, Jacksonville Optimists, and Girl Scouts of America. Citizens young and old gathered for tours of a state trooper's talking car, an ambulance, medevac helicopter, and an assortment of fire trucks. In addition, MSP presented a seat belt demonstration. The BCVFA Fire Safety Trailer was also open for children to learn about fire prevention and safety. Multiple presentations on crime trends in the area, internet security, and other safety topics were covered by the Girl Scouts. The member's of Station 47 also utilized a fire demonstration prop from the Long Green Volunteer Fire Company which allowed children to use a real fire hose to "put out" a fire. Visitors enjoyed pit beef, ham, and turkey along with hot dogs and other food and drinks.
