Company 47 Responds to Dwelling Fire in Long Green (Fire Box 38-15)

March 28th, 2006

At 0151 hours, units from Long Green and the surrounding area were dispatched for a report of a house on fire in the area of Harford and Notchcliff. While units were still en-route, police units reported a fully involved dwelling. BC11 requested a tanker strike team as units were still responding. Engine 10 arrived minutes later in the 10700 block of Harford Road to find a two story dwelling less than ten feet from the roadway with heavy fire showing. Two additional engines were requested to assist with a long relay to the nearest hydrant due to limited access. Jacksonville's Engine 471 laid its entire 1000 feet of 5'' supply line to the scene. A total of four handlines were in operation as crews worked for hours to extinguish the fire and perform overhaul operations.
