Air Unit 478 (2000)

This unit is a 2000 Ford F-350 equipped with with an Eagle Air Cascade. It seats two personnel. It is owned by the Baltimore County Fire Department and operated by the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Company. Its primary responsibility is responding to working fires throughout the county to fill the SCBA air bottles used by firefighters. It also responds to assist on special calls such as confined space rescues or to fill SCUBA bottles used by dive teams. It also has a 200 foot long reel of air hose for use in certain situations. The air unit can also be used to fill stand-alone cascade systems in other stations. The on-board cascade has an operating pressure of 6,000 psi and the capability to fill two air bottles at once.
